ALKA-ASH Syrup 100ml

ALKA-ASH Syrup is a potent urinary alkalinizer with Disodium Hydrogen Citrate, a familiar therapeutic compound used for symptomatic relief of urinary tract discomfort, and is prescribed for patients with burning micturition, urinary tract infections (UTI), metabolic acidosis, and other clinical situations of urinary alkalinization. Each 5 ml of ALKA-ASH Syrup, in a fun syrup flavour, delivers 1.37 g of Disodium Hydrogen Citrate, giving patients the threefold benefit of flavour, compliance, and quick relief from symptoms. 

This syrup works by increasing the pH of urine and therefore reducing the acidity of the urine. This increase in urinary pH may help decrease some of the irritation and inflammation of the urinary tract, which often produces the burning sensation during urination. Furthermore, in cases of kidney stones, ALKA-ASH Syrup may guard against the formation of some types of stones by providing an alkaline environment.

Indications for its use 

ALKA-ASH Syrup is indicated for conditions such as 

• In case of a Burning sensation during urination
• In conditions such as Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
• In Renal tubular acidosis
• In case of Metabolic acidosis due to kidney dysfunction
• For Adjunct therapy in kidney stone conditions

Mechanism of action 

In the body, disodium hydrogen citrate is metabolised to alkaline bicarbonate ions, which serve to neutralise excess acid found in blood and urine (1, 21). The net results are an increase in urinary pH, which lessens irritation within the urinary tract and supports the natural healing process. Alkalising the urine also renders an environment less conducive for bacterial growth and stone formation.

Dosages and administration

The dosages must be decided by the doctor and must be taken as per the recommendation by the doctor. 

The commonly recommended dose is

• For adults, the recommended dose is 15-30 mL 2-3 times after taking a meal. 
• For children, the dose is 5-10 ml in diluted water 2-3 times daily.

• Not for long term use
