TELMIASH AM

Overview 

TELMIASH AM – It is a combination medicine that is formulated from Telmisartan and Amlodipine. This medicinal combination is an effective solution for treating or controlling high blood pressure. It lowers the blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels and helps the heart to pump blood freely. The medicines work as a dual mechanism, one is lowering the blood pressure and the other reduces the risk of associated cardiovascular complications such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage.

It is taken along with the food, and the prescription goes as per the doctor’s instructions. It can show some side effects such as swelling in your ankles or feet (oedema), headache, sleepiness, dizziness, tiredness, and upset stomach. 

Indications for its use 

The Telmiash AM is indicated for use in the following conditions : 

• Hypertension, such as Essential & Secondary
• For Cardiovascular risk reduction in cases like hypertensive patients 
• It provides an Adjunctive therapy for patients

Mechanism of Action  

Telmisartan and Amlodipine have a more effective blood pressure reduction effect combined due to their complementary actions, similar to vasodilation, via multiple pathways will lead to better cardiovascular protection.

Telmisartan:

• It blocks angiotensin II from binding to its receptor (AT1) to block vasoconstriction.
• It induces vasodilation and decreases aldosterone release, which reduces sodium and water retention. 

Amlodipine:

• It inhibits the influx of calcium ions into the vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle.
• Induces peripheral arterial vasodilation and reduces systemic vascular resistance, leading to decreased blood pressure.

Dosages and Administrations

The Telmiash AM must be taken as prescribed by the doctor for a proper and systematic treatment of the illness 

• The most common and recommended dose is one tablet daily 
• Dosages is adjusted as per the response and tolerance of the patient. 
• It should be taken at the same time interval daily. 

Side Effects:

This medication shows some side effects which are adapted by the body by Sometimes it may be required to get a medical checkup. Some of the common side effects are: 

• Dizziness
• Swelling of ankles/feet (peripheral oedema)
• Fatigue
• Headache
• Palpitations

• Hypotension (low blood pressure)
• Elevated potassium levels (hyperkalemia)
• Kidney dysfunction
• Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling)

Precautions while medication

For an effective and efficient use of the medicine without any unwanted condition or side effects, there are certian precautions that need to be followed, such as : 

• In case of renal and hepatic impairment, it must be used with caution. 
• In case of pregnancy, it is not recommended to consume
• It causes dizziness, so avoid driving or using heavy machinery after consuming the medicine. 
• Monitor regularly the blood pressure, electrolytes, and kidney function
